Szanto Introduces Four Series of Automatic Watches: The Half Hunter, Aviator, Coin Cushion and Classic Round

Before wrist watches became popular during WW1 as equipment and fashion, time keeping was trusted to pocket watches. Hunter style pocket watches feature a spring-hinged cover to protect the watch from shocks, dust and dirt. They were likely originally developed for hunters and gamesmen who participated in fox hunts or similar activities, but soon became a fashionable alternative for gentlemen.
A Half Hunter is a distinct design with an opening in the center of the cover to see the view time on the watch dial without the need to open the cover. The engraved numbers on the cover mirror the placement of numbers on the dial.
