Heritage Aviator 2752

Intro-

Hello and welcome to another microbrand review, As always I’ll start with a brief history story. Szanto watches are part of Time Concepts based in California and have been involved in the horology industry for over 60 years. A few years ago, a veteran watchmaker was struck by the beauty and simplicity of military watches from nearly 100 years back and set out to create a modern watch with the same classic vintage appeal. Szanto’s vintage style watches evoke the feeling of a time gone by when making top-notch products was the standard. Szanto uses the highest quality workmanship, and stands behind every watch, crafting each one for outstanding fit, finish, and style. Today I bring you The Heritage Aviator 2752, which is part of a collection of 6, each with its own Usp.

Review

So let’s get into it starting as always with the Case. Here we have our old friend, Mr. 316l stainless steel, giving us a rather nice 41mm brushed case with a classy polished inlay running down either side of the case. With a lug to lug of just under 50mm, this watch has the perfect dimensions for those of you, myself included with small wrist syndrome. The lug width of 20mm makes this watch perfect for those after a slim minimalist feel, and with a thickness of just`10.7mm the 2752, will fit effortlessly under any shirt. You’ll find a rather interesting, push, pull, polished crown at the traditional 3 o clock with an interesting design that seems to go with the vintage aesthetic.

Off to the dial which I am sorry to say is not coated with a Sapphire Crystal, But a hardened Mineral Crystal, not a deal-breaker, but would have been a nice touch nonetheless. Being a Pilot inspired watch , The champagne-colored dial features black minute numerals on the outside, with an inner circle featuring the hour markers as well as a substantial seconds sub-dial. The black hour and minute hands are coated with a thick Swiss Lume, which at this price is more than acceptable. For me personally, I feel the watch would really benefit from having a lume on the dial ring, But it does feature at 12,3,6 and 9 o clock, so maybe I’m just being fussy. With all that being said the dial is finished to a very high standard and under a macro lens the attention to detail really is superb. To the rear is where you have your laser engraved screw-down case back, providing a 100meters of water resistance, even though you are more likely to wear the 2752, having afternoon tea than deep-sea diving, but still a welcome addition.

Moving on to the Strap and Movement. On the Strap front, we have a rustic brown leather strap, with an engraved brushed stainless steel pin buckle, which is executed with military-style precision, accompanied by what I think should be on every watch, Quick release pins, and given the dial color, the 2752 will be a bit of strap monster so being able to change straps in seconds is a great addition. The Movement is a Miyota 1l45 small seconds movement, which is more than enough to keep perfect time for 3-4 years, then simply pop the case back off and change the battery.

Final Thoughts

The Heritage Aviator 2752, Offers great value at $225, and the fact that each collection has a selection of dials, Means they offer something for everyone. I love the vintage style and at 41mm I feel is the perfect size for someone with a wrist size of 6.5 or less without it dominating your wrist. If you are after a lightweight, durable, well made, and most importantly looks the part watch without breaking the bank, you won’t go wrong with Szanto.
